The internet is abuzz with excitement over the fact that Gilmore Girls is returning for four episodes on Netflix.
The revival is something that fans have been waiting for since the show went off air nearly 10 years ago. And while we cannot wait to see our favorite characters like Lorelai, Rory and Luke make their returns, everyone’s pretty upset at the absences of Melissa McCarthy AKA Sookie St. James.
McCarthy, as we all know, made her big break on the popular sitcom, but since its cancellation, she has had major, major, unbelievable success in television, film and fashion. So, as it seems, she hasn’t signed on to be a part of the show. And it’s pretty much because… she’s super busy.
Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino talked with TVLine and revealed she is more than willing to work around McCarthy’s schedule. “She’s really f—ing busy,” Sherman Palladino acknowledges. “But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.”
Fans are pretty upset at the fact that Sookie will not return… or at least, we don’t think she will return, and they are being very vocal about it.
@melissamccarthy YOU BETTER BE ON THE GILMORE GIRLS REVIVAL OR I WILL DIE

To be honest, we’re not sure if she’ll return. We’ve seen this time and time again, where huge characters don’t show up for reunions due to busy schedules, even if they want to… but hey, Melissa, what’s a couple of hours for your OGs?
